  • Delano Junior Tigers Flag Football

    > entering grades 1 - 4 (Fall of 2024) Delano Junior Tigers Flag Football program aims to teach students in grades 1 - 4 about the game of football in a fun and encouraging environment to develop their interest in the sport. The Delano Junior Tigers Flag Football program seeks parent volunteers to coach their child’s team. Parent volunteers are needed for a successful program. We are asking parents to consider volunteering, no matter their background in the sport of football. Without enough volunteers, participation in the program may be limited on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please contact Chris at Community Education (612-224-5958 Call/text, or chris.runke@delanoschools.org) if you are interested in helping or indicate this on your child’s registration form. **A coach’s meeting for all coaches will be held the week before the season starts. The coordinator will email coaches the meeting date, time, and location in August.   • Delano Tigers 5th & 6th Grade Tackle Football

    Delano Tigers 5th & 6th-Grade Tackle Football will be starting the week of August 14 this year to give our players more time to develop before playing competitive games. The Delano Tigers 5th & 6th-Grade Tackle Football program aims to teach fifth and sixth-grade students to have fun playing football, develop an interest in the sport, and learn the fundamentals of the game. Football provides a forum for children to develop respect for themselves and others, build self-esteem, develop physical skills, and experience a metaphoric environment that teaches life lessons and skills. Practices: The schedule will be determined by your athlete’s head coach. (Typically during the week from 5:30 - 7:00 pm.) Games:League playdates start September 7 and can go through October 12. Game times and locations will vary each week. The league schedule will be distributed at the end of August once finalized. Grass Field 8 (G8 - South of DIS) Important Dates: (All dates are subject to change) August 1: Registration Deadline August 6: Mandatory Coach’s Meeting, 6:00p at DHS Tiger Den August 7: Pants fitting (One time only!), 5:30 - 7:00p at the Delano Elementary School August 8: Equipment hand-out, 5:30 - 7:00p at Community Ed Center Gym August 13: First Practice, 6:30 - 8:00p at Grass Field 8 (South of DIS) August 15: Practice, 6:30 - 8:00p at Grass Field 8 (South of DIS) August 17: Player Skills Evaluation (Combine) 9:30 - 11:00 am at Grass Field 8 (South of DIS) August 20: First team practice 6:00 - 6:30 pm, Parent/Player/Coach Meeting Practice: 6:30 - 8:00 pm at Grass Field 8 (South of DIS) (The August 17 and 20 dates are subject to change based on when teams are formed.) August 31-September 2: No practice (Labor Day weekend) Registration deadline: Thursday, August 1 Registration Fee: $150 Equipment Deposit: $150 (a separate check) Community Education will hold the check and only deposit it if the equipment is not returned in good condition by Tuesday, October 15, 2024. Pants can be bought independently or ordered through Community Education by attending the one-time-only fitting session on Wednesday, August 7, at the Delano Elementary School Gym from 5:30 - 7:00 pm. Sizes: Price: Youth XS - Youth XL: TBD Youth XXL - Youth Husky: TBD Adult S - Adult XL: TBD Prices will be communicated the week of August 5. Pants ordered through Community Education will be black and have the pads integrated into them. Integrated pads mean you no longer have to take the pads out of the pants to wash them or deal with broken snaps. Players can use the football pants for both the 5th and 6th-grade seasons. We will be placing one bulk order for the pants through a vendor. You must contact the vendor directly if there are any issues with the pants. Please contact Community Education for the vendor’s information if you have any problems with the pants. Equipment Hand-Out: Equipment Hand-In: Thurs, August 8 Tues, October 15 5:30-7:00 pm 5:30-7:00 pm Comm Ed Ctr Gym Comm Ed Ctr Basement Important Equipment Update: 2025 5th & 6th Grade Football Equipment Due to evolving safety regulations limiting the lifespan of youth football equipment, Community Education will no longer provide helmets and shoulder pads for 5th and 6th-grade football participants starting with the 2025 season. We understand this may require additional planning for families. To help make equipment acquisition easier, Community Education is partnering with local vendors to offer participants options for purchasing or renting helmets and shoulder pads. More information on these options, including vendor details and pricing, will be available before the 2025 season's registration opens.   • Flag Football Training Camp

    > entering grades 3 - 4 This 4-day camp will be a great way to prepare for the upcoming Junior Delano Tigers 3rd & 4th Grade Flag Football program in September. During the first half-hour each day, we will work on flag football skills through various drills and fun games. For the last hour of each day, the coaches will split the group into teams, and we will play a game using the same format taught in the fall program. Get yourself ready for the Fall season by registering for Training Camp today! Campers will receive a Delano Football t-shirt & wristband and a poster signed by varsity players.   • Summer Football Camp

    > entering grades 3 - 7 Join us for an exhilarating three-day youth football camp designed to infuse excitement into the game while imparting essential football skills to your budding athlete. The camp will include training in offensive, defensive, and specialty skills, including kicking and punting, that is geared toward preparing participants for the upcoming fall season. Additional emphasis will be placed on teamwork and learning to play multiple positions on the football field. Athletes should wear athletic clothing and shoes and bring a water bottle daily.   • Tiger Youth Football Camp

    >entering grades 3-8 The Tiger Youth Football Camp is a non-padded football camp that will focus on learning the fundamentals of football, having FUN with friends & participating in high-energy competitions. Techniques will be taught for safe blocking & tackling, throwing, catching, ball security, and block destruction. Participants will learn & compete with similar-aged peers and play 7-on-7 style games. Campers will receive a Delano Football t-shirt, wristband, and a poster signed by varsity players. Scholarships may be available upon request, depending on camp funds.
